ArtPlace recently awarded grants totaling $1.5M to support neighborhood revitalization based on arts and culture.
The St. Claude Main Street and Civic Center received the $275,000 part of the grant for a multipart project along New Orleans’s burgeoning corridor. The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage foundation received “place-making” grants totaling $250,000 to renovate a 19th century building in treme.
The biggest part of the grant, however, is nonprofit real estate developer called Artspace receiving $1M to convert unused Bell School Campus to an arts and education center.
