Eight school districts in South Carolina were recently awarded grants to improve the education and learning of pre-kindergarten students. Jasper County School District was one of the recipients of the grant after applying in December and Interviewing as a finalist in January.
The grant is to be used to help with education and fostering good relationships between students and teachers- this is something they have found will impact how children learn and will likely last through a child's school career.
Teachers will take part in training over the summer in preparation to start this program with the 2016-17 school year. Funds will also be available to existing programs, such as Head Start, in order to provide learning material to be used in preparing children for school at an early age.
