Oregon State University is planning a $200 million, 150,000-square-foot research and education complex with one of the nation's most powerful supercomputers.

The Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex will be named in honor of the couple's $50 million donation to support the complex, which will include specialized research facilities in artificial intelligence, materials science, and robotics, the Oregonian reports.

"We discovered our love for computer science and engineering at OSU," says Jen-Hsun Huang, founder and CEO of graphics chip maker NVIDIA.

"We are thrilled to be able to support the university's cutting-edge research in these areas."

The complex will also include a state-of-the-art clean room and other specialized research facilities.

OSU President Jayathi Murthy says the complex will address "highly complex and challenging computational problems" in areas including climate science, oceanography, sustainability, and water resources.

In addition to the supercomputer, which will be powered by next-generation NVIDIA CPUs, GPUs, and networking, the complex will employ a NVIDIA supercomputer to support faculty in addressing highly complex and challenging computational problems.

The university says more than 1,100 donors have pledged more than $1 billion to support the Believe It: The Campaign for Oregon State University.
