The Charter One Bank's Charter One Foundation gave away six new grants under its Growing Communities program in support of local farmers and farmers' markets.

Some of the recipients are: The wife-husband team Melody and Lynn Nye with $3,000 to buy a cargo trailer; The Brinery received a $3,000 grant to help buy a vegetable processor; Fuhr's Valley View Fruit Farm in Imlay City will receive a $3,000 grant to help buy an automated donut-making machine and many others.
