Born in Nigeria, Obinna moved to the US at age 18, nabbed a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics with minors in Aviation Safety and Aeronautical Studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, and then, in 2010, founded SkyGeneX Inc., which focuses on jetway innovations.
Obinna's "most notable innovation" is the Dynaerobridge, a patented jetway passenger boarding bridge that uses all exit and entry doors of an aircraft to streamline boarding.
Obinna also served as a Falcon 9 Crew Engineer, overseeing the qualification and certification of SpaceX's first human-crewed mission.
Now he's the Program Lead, Tipping Point Technologies, at SpaceX, "one of the foremost names in the commercial space exploration sector," per a press release from SkyGeneX.
Obinna's research and development work has also included working on technologies for in-space cryogenic fluid transfer and management.
