Enabling the LGBTQ Community to Become Leaders and Cultivate Change

Ruben Zecena, 2014 Pride Foundation Scholar, been very active with the LGBTQ community at Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman, WA where he is currently a junior.

To follow his graduation on May of 2016 with his English teaching major and Queer Studies minor, Ruben plans to offer a diverse education that will provoke, encourage, and empower his students. He believes in the power of mentorship and wants to teach about social inequalities through literature. He says, "As a gay Latino, I will teach about how race intersects with sexuality and gender because these are areas that I am interested in and affected by."
